The weeks leading up to Easter are usually called “Lent.” That word has built up its own meaning in our minds that usually has to do with fasting, fish fries, or repentance. All of those have their own value and meaning, but the most important part of Lent is the story of Jesus on his journey to the cross. Each of the stories we will read during this season give us a glimpse of how Christ is the sacrificial lamb who is going to the cross to rescue us from our brokenness. Along that way, Jesus demonstrates that he is a lamb who understands and “sympathizes” with our weaknesses.
